The Patchwork School and Art for
a Cause
While other
schools are cutting art programs,
art remains an integral part of
TPS philosophy and everyday curriculum.
“Art
is one of the many languages children
use to communicate and represent
their ideas,” explains TPS
Director Elizabeth Baker, “children
need the time, space and materials
to imagine, to think and to express
themselves.”At TPS, art
is as important to the learning
process as letters and numbers.
So, the partnership
between The Patchwork School and
Art for a Cause is a perfect fit.
Elizabeth explains, “We feel it’s
so important to build relationships
with local artists as a part of
our learning community.” TPS
students enjoyed several visits
from artists and writers during
the 2007-08 school year.
